MYDT Competition Policies

MYDT attends one dance competition each year - Symposium Talent Contest. Level 3-6 classes particpate in group competition at the discretion of their teachers. Also, students in Levels 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in solo and duet competition provided that they follow certain guidelines and have the permission of their teachers. All students participating in competition will be required to attend at total of 1-3 rehearsals in addition to their regular weekly classes.

2009 Competition Results

Highlights from MYDT's participation in Symposium Talent Contest - May 9 & 10, 2009:

Duets:
Jacqueline Lenarz and Priya Tandon won 5th place overall high score duet in the 12 & under competition with their ballet duet "Victory".

Trios:
Elly Hollenhorst, Nicole Mahanna and Becca Woodbury won 1st place overall high score in the 13 & over competition.

Small Groups:
The Level 6 Modern dance "Heart Asks Pleasure First" won 5th place overall high score in the 13 & over competition.

Large Groups:
The Level 6 Musical Theatre dance "Chicago, IL" won 1st place overall high score in the 13 & over competition.
The Level 5 Lyrical dance "And So It Goes" won 5th place overall high score in the 13 & over competition. It was also awarded a Judge's Choice award for "Outstanding Choreography".
